How much exercise do I need to do each week?
The ever popular question. How much exercise is needed to be healthy?
Well, according to the American College of Sports Medicine(ACSM) and the American Heart Association (AHA) you need to do perform the following:
OR
20 minutes of vigorous activity (may be difficult to talk complete sentences) 3x per week
AND
8-10 strength training exercises w/8-12 repetitions each. 2x per week.
I hope this helps. You can break the activity into 10 minute segments if you need to total 30 minutes of moderate intensity activity and also combine moderate activity w/vigorous activity to reach the recommendations. Notice the addition of the strengthening piece!!!
